Netflix announces Young Thug documentary for 2027

Netflix has announced a new 90-minute documentary titled ‘Young Thug on Trial’, scheduled for release in 2027. The film will examine the legal proceedings involving Jeffery Williams, professionally known as Young Thug, and the prosecution’s efforts to establish that his music label, YSL, functioned as a criminal street gang.

Directed by Shianne Brown and produced by Passion Docs, the documentary aims to explore the intersection of Atlanta’s community, the rise of rap music, and the legal system. It will feature footage from the highly publicized RICO trial that captivated the hip-hop community. The project follows Williams’ legal journey after he pleaded guilty to multiple charges in 2024, resulting in a sentence that includes 15 years of probation.
