Netflix brings Creative Asia program to Busan International Film Festival

Netflix is returning to the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) for its third annual Creative Asia program. The initiative, held at Dongseo University’s Centum Campus, is designed to support emerging Asian filmmakers through workshops and industry panels.

A central component of this year's program is a panel titled “AI in Filmmaking: New Tools, New Possibilities,” co-hosted by Netflix and the Motion Picture Association (MPA). The discussion will feature Weta FX Chief Technology Officer Kimball Thurston, Netflix Senior Director of APAC Production Sung Q Lee, and Korean director Kang Yun-sung.

The program also includes several masterclasses. Cinematographer Kim Ji-yong will discuss the visual storytelling of the film “Possible Love,” while director Han Jun-hee will lead a session on crafting resonant stories from unexpected subjects. Additional sessions will cover location management and storytelling, as well as workshops focused on cinematic archetypes and the greenlighting process for new content.
