Netflix campaigns ‘La Bola Negra’ ensemble for Oscars

Netflix is launching an ensemble-focused Oscar campaign for the Spanish film ‘La Bola Negra’. Rather than focusing on a single lead, the streamer intends to campaign the principal cast in supporting categories. This includes Penélope Cruz, Glenn Close, Lola Dueñas, and pop star Guitarricadelafuente, who is also being considered for Best Original Song for ‘La Nieve’.

Directed by Los Javis (Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi), the film recently won the People's Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival and has been selected as Spain's official submission for Best International Feature. The story is a triptych set across 1932, 1937, and 2017, inspired by an unfinished novel by Federico García Lorca, following three men whose lives are connected through desire and inheritance.
