Netflix cancels sci-fi series ‘The Retirement Revolution’ after one season

Netflix has cancelled the critically acclaimed sci-fi series ‘The Retirement Revolution’ after only one season. Despite the eight-episode series maintaining a 96 percent critic score and a 78 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and previously appearing on global viewership charts, the production has been halted.

Reports suggest the cancellation stems from business and financing challenges. Specifically, the Duffer brothers' four-year exclusive deal with Paramount reportedly strained the relationship with Netflix. Additionally, the high production cost of approximately 10 million dollars per episode proved unsustainable for the platform. The cancellation occurred in mid-June, shortly after the premiere, despite plans already being in place for a second and third season.
