Netflix confirms Tantara K-drama starring Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo

Netflix has officially announced the release date for the upcoming South Korean period drama “Tantara,” scheduled to premiere globally on December 11, 2026. The series marks the first collaboration between lead actors Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo.

Set against the backdrop of the South Korean entertainment and music industry between the 1960s and 1980s, the drama follows the journey of Min-ja (Song Hye-kyo), a woman overcoming extreme poverty to enter the music business, and her childhood friend Dong-gu (Gong Yoo), who supports her ambitions. The production features a high-profile cast including Cha Seung-won, Kim Seol-hyun, Lee Hanee, and Na Moon-hee.

The project is a significant production, with some reports suggesting an investment of approximately 80 billion won. It marks the return of acclaimed screenwriter Noh Hee-kyung, known for “Our Blues,” and director Lee Yoon-jung. The series is produced by Studio Dragon and GTist.
