Netflix has announced two new spin-off series expanding the universe of the British crime drama ‘Top Boy’. The announcement was made during the Edinburgh TV Festival.
The first project, titled ‘Jonny Boy’, is a five-episode prequel starring Barry Keoghan. Keoghan will reprise his role as the Irish mobster Jonny McGee and will also executive produce the series through his company, Wolfcub Productions. The series, written by original creator Ronan Bennett and directed by Ali Abbasi, is expected to begin filming in 2027 and will explore the character's origins within an Irish crime network.
The second series, currently titled ‘Jaq’, will focus on the character played by Jasmine Jobson. This six-episode production will follow Jaq Lawrence’s story beyond the Summerhouse gang. Ryan Calais Cameron is set as the creator and writer for this installment. Both projects are being produced by Cowboy Films.
