Netflix explores integrating rival streaming services into its app

Netflix is exploring a strategic shift that could see rival streaming services integrated directly into its application. According to reports from The New York Times, executives have discussed potential deals with Peacock and Fox One.

This move would represent a departure from Netflix’s historical strategy of maintaining a self-contained library. The company is considering two primary models: acting as a hub where users can purchase third-party subscriptions through the Netflix interface—similar to Amazon Prime Video—or integrating third-party content directly into its own catalog.

Netflix has already begun testing this approach in France, where it integrated live channels and on-demand content from the local broadcaster TF1 in June. Co-CEO Greg Peters described the results of the TF1 partnership as “very promising” and indicated that the company would consider similar deals if they prove mutually beneficial for both Netflix and its partners.

While discussions regarding Peacock and Fox One are in the exploratory stages and no imminent deals have been finalized, the potential shift reflects a broader industry trend toward content aggregation to increase user retention and simplify the streaming experience.
