Netflix delays final season of The Witcher to 2027
The fifth and final season of the Netflix series ‘The Witcher’ has reportedly been delayed to 2027, moving it from its previously expected 2026 release window. Although seasons four and five were filmed consecutively to ensure narrative continuity, the final installment is no longer listed in Netflix’s 2026 plans.
Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich previously noted that the writing team treated seasons four and five as ‘one big story’ consisting of 16 cohesive episodes. The delay follows a period of transition for the series, including the departure of Henry Cavill from the lead role of Geralt of Rivia and his replacement by Liam Hemsworth starting in season four.
While the live-action series approaches its conclusion, the franchise continues through other media, including upcoming video game developments from CD Projekt RED.
