Netflix documentary explores Matthew Perry’s life and addiction battle

A new three-part Netflix documentary, ‘The One About Matthew Perry’, is scheduled for release on 27 October. The series aims to provide an intimate look at the late ‘Friends’ actor’s life, career, and his long-term struggle with addiction.

Perry’s sister, Mia Perry Bowick, helmed the project and shared that her brother spent over $7 million attempting to achieve sobriety throughout his life. The documentary will utilize archival footage and interviews with family and friends to reveal the person behind his public persona.

Bowick highlighted the intensity of his struggle, noting that Perry once left a rehabilitation center specifically to film an iconic wedding scene for ‘Friends’ before immediately returning to treatment. The actor passed away at age 54 on 28 October 2023 due to an accidental ketamine overdose.
