Netflix expands theatrical film releases and gaming services
Netflix is shifting its distribution strategy by embracing traditional cinema for major productions. The streaming giant plans to release box office results for six upcoming titles, including Greta Gerwig’s ‘Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew’ and David Fincher’s ‘The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’. Some films, such as ‘Narnia’, will receive wide theatrical releases and IMAX screenings before moving to the streaming platform.
Additionally, Netflix is aggressively expanding its gaming division. The company has integrated game promotions more prominently into its user interface, including the mobile home screen. According to an S&P Global report, monthly active cloud gaming users have increased 11-fold since October, signaling a growing interest in the platform’s non-video entertainment offerings.
