Netflix faces advertising revenue shortfall and content changes

Netflix has revised its 2026 advertising revenue projections downward to $2.7 billion from an initial estimate of $3 billion. Co-CEO Greg Peters attributed this to delays in new advertising products and partner integrations. However, media agencies suggest that high pricing and technical barriers—such as limited booking options outside standard market workflows—have deterred advertisers. The company also faces increased competition from Amazon Prime Video and the rise of free FAST channels.

In terms of content, Netflix is undergoing significant library changes in October 2026. Numerous titles, including several Indiana Jones films such as ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’, ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’, and ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’, are scheduled to leave the platform. Additionally, the fourth season of the French heist series ‘Lupin’ has returned after a three-year hiatus, receiving 100% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes despite mixed audience reactions.
