Netflix faces backlash over anniversary post regarding Charlie Kirk

Netflix UK & Ireland has faced social media backlash following a post regarding a “neck injury” on the one-year anniversary of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination. The post, which featured images from the series ‘The Gentlemen’, included the caption “Nearly did himself a neck injury.”

While the post appeared to be a promotional remark related to a scene in the show, critics pointed to the timing, as September 10 marks the anniversary of Kirk being fatally shot in the neck while speaking at Utah Valley University in 2025. Some social media users interpreted the reference as a mockery of the event, leading to calls for subscription cancellations.

Kirk was the founder of Turning Point USA. The individual accused of the killing, Tyler Robinson, has pleaded not guilty to seven charges, including aggravated murder, as the case moves toward trial.
