Netflix faces production timeline challenges for ‘Wednesday’

Netflix faces potential narrative challenges regarding the production timeline of its hit series ‘Wednesday’. While the show remains one of the platform’s most successful English-language originals, the lengthy gaps between seasons are causing the characters to age rapidly in real-world time.

Season 1 premiered in November 2022. Season 2 was released in two parts in August and September 2025. Season 3 is currently scheduled for a 2027 debut, at which point the characters will be high school seniors. Jenna Ortega has noted that the upcoming season will explore themes of family, the future, and the transition into adulthood.

Production for the third season reportedly began near Dublin in early 2026. The slow production cycle mirrors challenges previously faced by Netflix with ‘Stranger Things’, where the aging of the young cast became a factor between seasons.
