Netflix reports Q3 profit beat but cuts 2026 advertising revenue forecast

Netflix reported third-quarter earnings that exceeded analyst expectations, with net profit rising 44 percent to 3.66 billion dollars and earnings per share reaching 0.87 dollars. Revenue for the quarter grew approximately 12 percent to 12.87 billion dollars, supported by membership gains and subscription price increases.

Despite the profit beat, the company's stock fell in after-hours trading due to a lowered 2026 advertising revenue forecast, which was reduced from approximately 3 billion dollars to 2.7 billion dollars. Management attributed this shortfall to a slower-than-expected rollout of certain advertising product capabilities.

The financial results come amid significant organizational changes, including the layoff of approximately 1,000 employees, representing 6 percent of its workforce. Additionally, Netflix is undergoing a leadership transition in its content division; Bela Bajaria is departing as Chief Content Officer and will be succeeded by Peter Rice on October 26.
