Netflix faces strategic shifts and AI-related legal complaints

Netflix is undergoing strategic and legal shifts. On the business front, Wolfe Research has raised its price target for Netflix stock from $84 to $95. This optimism follows reports that the company may expand its platform to include third-party creator content, a move aimed at competing directly with YouTube. In response to Netflix's interest in creator content, YouTube has reportedly offered multi-million dollar exclusive deals to high-reach channels to maintain its market position.

Simultaneously, Netflix is facing legal challenges in Germany regarding its use of artificial intelligence. The Verband Deutscher Sprecher e. V. (VDS) has filed an official complaint with the Bundeskartellamt. The dispute centers on contract clauses that allow Netflix to use recorded material for AI training purposes without additional compensation. Many German voice actors are currently refusing to work with the streaming service due to concerns that unpaid contributions to AI training could undermine their profession.
