Netflix film Facing El Chapo to premiere August 21

The Netflix film “Facing El Chapo” (titled “La captura” in Spanish) is set to premiere on August 21. Directed by Chava Cartas, the action-drama thriller focuses on the third and final capture of Mexican drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera.

Unlike many depictions of the cartel leader, the narrative is told from the perspective of two federal agents, Arturo Carmona and Héctor Rosales, portrayed by Poncho Herrera and Noé Hernández, respectively. The story recreates the January 8, 2016, operation in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, following a raid by Mexican Marines.

The plot follows the two officers as they struggle to transport the high-profile prisoner through territory controlled by the Sinaloa Cartel. The film explores the tension and lack of trust between the newly paired partners as they face life-threatening decisions while attempting to complete their mission.
