Netflix film ‘Yomei Ichinen, Otoko o Kau’ set for November 5 release

Netflix has announced that the film ‘Yomei Ichinen, Otoko o Kau’ (One Year to Live, Buying a Man) will be released exclusively worldwide on November 5. The film stars Ko Shibasaki and Eiji Akaso in lead roles.

Based on the novel by Toriko Yoshikawa, the story follows Yui Katakura, a 40-year-old woman who lives a frugal life until she receives a terminal diagnosis with only one year to live. In a sudden shift of perspective, she enters into a 720,000 yen contract with Sena, a host, to experience the luxuries and dreams she previously avoided.

The production features direction by Taiki Kazama and a screenplay by Keiwa Okada. The newly released trailer and key art highlight the emotional connection between the two protagonists as they navigate their unconventional relationship. Additional cast members include Michitaka Tsutsui, Naomi Nishida, Mari Hamada, Yui Narumi, Yoko Moriguchi, Ryuya Miyase, Mahoka Ozaki, and Koen Kondo.
