Netflix releases Wonka-inspired reality competition series

Netflix has released a new reality competition series titled ‘Wonka’s The Golden Ticket’, inspired by the world of Roald Dahl’s ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. The show features 24 contestants—12 winners of a golden ticket and their chosen partners—who face physical and mental challenges within a recreated chocolate factory set.

The competition offers a three-million-dollar prize, which is distributed in annual installments over 30 years. The production includes nods to the 1971 film, featuring the return of Rusty Goffe as an Oompa Loompa and a recreation of Gene Wilder’s voice. While the series has reached the top 10 in the Netherlands, it has received a low critical score of 20 on Rotten Tomatoes.
