Netflix announces new ‘Bridgerton’ spin-off about Lady Violet
Netflix has officially announced a new limited series spin-off within the ‘Bridgerton’ universe. The production will focus on the youth and romance of Lady Violet Bridgerton and Viscount Edmund Bridgerton, the family's matriarch and patriarch.
Following the model of ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story’, the project will be produced by Shondaland. Shonda Rhimes will return as a co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer alongside Nicholas Nardini. Tom Verica is also set to direct and serve as an executive producer.
Unlike previous spin-offs, this series is expected to draw from existing literary material, specifically the novella ‘Violet in Bloom’ by Julia Quinn, which explores the relationship between the two characters. While the cast for the younger versions of the characters has not yet been confirmed, the announcement comes as production for the fifth season of the main series continues in London.
