Pablo Larraín’s ‘Mis muertos tristes’ to premiere on Netflix

The Netflix miniseries ‘Mis muertos tristes’ (My Sad Dead), directed by Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín, is set to premiere on September 24. Based on the short stories of Argentine author Mariana Enriquez, the four-episode production explores a supernatural phenomenon in a violent suburb where the dead become visible and audible to the community.

The story follows Ema, a retired doctor played by Mercedes Morán, who possesses the ability to interact with spirits. The narrative tension escalates when a series of local tragedies and the arrival of her niece, Julie, cause her individual connection to the deceased to expand into a collective experience affecting the entire neighborhood.

The series recently gained international attention after being presented as a feature-length film at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, where it competed for the Golden Shell. Additionally, horror author Stephen King publicly praised the series' premise on social media, calling the concept ‘genial’.
