Netflix launches Brazilian MMA drama 'Fúria' starring Bianca Comparato

Netflix's new Brazilian series "Fúria" places mixed martial arts at the heart of its story while highlighting female leadership. Actress Bianca Comparato plays Iana Novaes, a powerful businesswoman whose family legacy is tied to the sport, and she emphasizes the series' focus on women making independent decisions.

The plot follows amnesiac fighter Marcelo, rescued by former champion Antonio Trindade, as they battle to save a struggling gym against the dominant Alpha Rio academy led by Yana. Critics note the series delivers strong fight choreography and solid performances, especially from Comparato and veteran actor Fábio Lago, but point out predictable narrative twists and a superficial treatment of its themes.

Overall, "Fúria" blends action, mystery and a message of female empowerment within Brazil's growing MMA culture.
