Netflix's Little House on the Prairie reboot debuts July 9

Netflix will launch a new eight‑episode adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House on the Prairie on Thursday, 9 July. The series, billed as a family‑friendly re‑imagining, follows the Ingalls family’s 1870s trek from Wisconsin to Kansas and incorporates a deeper look at the Indigenous peoples displaced by westward expansion.

The first‑season cast includes Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls, Luke Bracey as Charles Ingalls, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls, Skywalker Hughes as Mary, and Warren Christie as the veteran neighbor John Edwards. Rebecca Sonnenshine serves as showrunner and cultural consultant Julie O’Keefe helped shape the Native‑American storyline. Christie said the show “offers hope, community and a multigenerational viewing experience.”

The reboot is highlighted in streaming‑guide round‑ups as a top July pick, described as “wholesome” and “heart‑warming,” and is positioned alongside other Netflix family titles. All eight episodes become available worldwide on the premiere date.
