Netflix launches new adaptation of Polish classic 'Lalka

Netflix has unveiled a new poster for its upcoming six‑episode series based on Bolesław Prus’s novel *Lalka*. The drama, set to premiere a few weeks before the theatrical release of the film version on 16 September, stars Sandra Drzymalska as Izabela Łęcka and Tomasz Schuchardt as Stanisław Wokulski. Directed by Paweł Maślona, with a screenplay by Maślona, Paweł Demirski and Jagoda Dutkiewicz, the production also features a supporting cast that includes Dariusz Chojnacki, Julia Wyszyńska and Piotr Adamczyk.

Maślona describes the adaptation as a modern reinterpretation that blends romance, tragicomedy and crime elements, giving the classic characters deeper psychological layers. The series aims to attract contemporary viewers while preserving the social‑mobility themes of the original work.
