Netflix launches new Little House on the Prairie series adaptation

Netflix is releasing a new television adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House on the Prairie, a semi‑autobiographical series set in the American frontier during 1869‑1870. The production stars Australian actor Luke Bracey alongside an ensemble that includes Alice Halsey, Crosby Fitzgerald, Skywalker Hughes and Jocko Sims. The original books, which sold more than 73 million copies, have long shaped popular images of pioneer life, and the 1970s TV version by Michael Landon remains a cultural touchstone with billions of streaming minutes.

The new series arrives amid renewed discussion of the books’ portrayal of Indigenous peoples and the role of Laura’s daughter Rose Wilder Lane in shaping the narrative’s libertarian and “frontier‑freedom” themes.
