Netflix launches new Little House on the Prairie series starring Luke Bracey
Netflix announced an eight‑episode adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic “Little House on the Prairie,” slated for a 2026 release. Australian actor Luke Bracey plays Charles Ingalls, with Alice Halsey as Laura, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline, and Skywalker Hughes as Mary. The series, created and run by Rebecca Sonnenshine, incorporates settler‑colonial and Indigenous perspectives while portraying frontier life in the 19th‑century American West.
The show has already been renewed for a second season ahead of its debut. Bracey said the story “is no mistake, and it is no accident, that the story and the family are so loved by so many people for so long.” Halsey noted the gender disparities of the era, adding, “Girls didn’t have the same opportunities that boys had back then.” The eight‑episode series will be available on Netflix worldwide.
