Netflix launches 'The Map of Longing' miniseries on July 17

Netflix released the six‑episode Spanish miniseries "The Map of Longing" (original title "El mapa de los anhelos") on 17 July, making all episodes available simultaneously. The series adapts Alice Kellen’s 2022 novel and follows Greta, who has spent her life as a stem‑cell donor for her sister Lucy, who dies of leukemia. Lucy leaves a scavenger‑hunt‑style "map" that pushes Greta to confront grief and rebuild her identity, introducing a mysterious young man, Will.

The author, Silvia Hervás (pen name Alice Kellen), confirmed the story is fictional but based on research into families with seriously ill children. She participated in the adaptation, reviewing scripts and guiding aesthetics, and says the novel’s core themes of loss, love and self‑discovery remain intact.

Media coverage also highlighted the series' fashion, listing the clothing brands worn by Greta, and provided the Spanish release schedule (9 a.m. CET, 8 a.m. in the Canary Islands). The show is positioned alongside Netflix’s successful literary adaptations such as "Bridgerton" and "Enola Holmes".
