Netflix parts ways with Ads Product VP Jon Whitticom
Netflix has parted ways with Jon Whitticom, the Vice President of Ads Product, as part of a leadership shake-up within its advertising division. Whitticom, who joined the company in early 2023, played a central role in developing the company’s ad technology and launching the Netflix Ads Suite, which allowed advertisers to purchase inventory through major platforms like Google and The Trade Desk.
In an internal memo, Netflix advertising president Amy Reinhard stated that the decision reflects the company’s expectations for its leadership. Reinhard wrote, “At Netflix, we expect our leaders to build and maintain trust, share context generously, collaborate cross-functionally, and cultivate an environment where people can do their best work.” She noted that she and Whitticom had discussed these standards directly.
Marc Heneghan will lead the Ads Product division on an interim basis while Netflix conducts an external search for a permanent replacement. The departure occurs as Netflix continues to prioritize its advertising tier as a primary driver for growth, noting that over 60% of new subscribers in supported countries opt for the ad-supported plan.
