Netflix pauses release of Gary Glitter documentary
Netflix has suspended the release of its upcoming three-part documentary series, ‘Hunting Gary Glitter’, which was originally scheduled to premiere on October 14. The streaming service stated that the decision to pause the release follows the discovery of new legal information regarding the subject, though specific details have not been disclosed.
Produced by Voltage TV, the documentary was intended to trace the history of the former British pop star, Paul Francis Gadd, known as Gary Glitter. The series planned to cover his musical career, his 1997 conviction, his time on the run, and his subsequent imprisonment, while featuring accounts from those affected by his crimes.
The postponement comes as Glitter faces new legal proceedings in London. He recently appeared via video link from prison to plead not guilty to eight charges involving alleged sexual offenses against a girl between the ages of eight and eleven. A trial regarding these new charges is expected to take place next year.
