The Netflix miniseries ‘My Brilliant Career’ has emerged as a global success, reaching the second position in the platform’s worldwide rankings. Based on the 1901 classic novel by Miles Franklin, the six-episode Australian production follows Sybylla Melvyn, a young woman in the early 20th century who resists societal pressures to marry in favor of pursuing her ambitions as a writer.

Set in rural Australia, the drama has been compared to ‘Bridgerton’ due to its period setting and romantic elements, though it focuses on different historical contexts and themes of female independence. The series stars Phillippa Northeast as Sybylla, supported by Christopher Chung and Jake Dunnen.
