Netflix reality series ‘Wonka’s The Golden Ticket’ achieves high viewership
Netflix’s new reality competition series, ‘Wonka’s The Golden Ticket’, has emerged as a significant ratings success for the streaming platform. Produced by Eureka Productions and Kinetic Content, the show debuted at number two on Netflix’s English-language TV chart, securing 4.6 million views in its opening week.
The series is a reality competition inspired by Roald Dahl’s ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. It features 12 paired teams navigating a massive 88,000-square-foot recreation of the Wonka factory. Competitors face various physical, mental, and moral challenges to compete for a prize valued at approximately three million dollars. The production, which was filmed in Australia, utilizes various nostalgic elements, including an AI recreation of Gene Wilder’s voice and appearances by original cast members.
The high viewership numbers place the show alongside other major unscripted hits like ‘Love Is Blind’. A two-part finale is scheduled to premiere on September 30.
