Netflix reveals first look at WWII drama ‘The Mosquito Bowl’

Netflix has released first-look images for ‘The Mosquito Bowl’, a World War II drama directed by Peter Berg. Based on the bestselling book by Pulitzer Prize winner Buzz Bissinger, the film tells the true story of four elite American college football players who enlisted in the Marines following the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The narrative follows these athletes as they prepare for the invasion of Okinawa, highlighting a legendary football game played before their deployment—a game that would serve as the final match for several of the players. The ensemble cast includes Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Galitzine, Ray Nicholson, and Tom Francis.

Early reactions from critics have compared the film’s visceral experience to ‘Saving Private Ryan’ and ‘Friday Night Lights’. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 30, 2026, before arriving on Netflix on November 25, 2026.
