Netflix releases German thriller miniseries ‘The Trap’
Netflix has released a new German psychological thriller miniseries titled ‘The Trap’ (Die Falle), which premiered on October 13. Directed by Isabel Kleefeld and based on the novel by Melanie Raabe, the six-episode series follows Lisa Konrad, a successful author who has lived in isolation for ten years following the unsolved murder of her sister, Anna.
The plot centers on Lisa’s belief that she has recognized her sister’s killer on television. She orchestrates an elaborate plan to lure the suspected man, journalist Robert Lenzen, to her villa under the guise of an interview to trap him. The narrative explores themes of trauma, memory manipulation, and gaslighting as the characters engage in a high-stakes game of deception.
The series is noted as a follow-up to the successful German production ‘Dear Child’ (Liebes Kind), continuing Netflix’s focus on European psychological suspense.
