Netflix releases LEGO One Piece animated special
Netflix has released ‘LEGO One Piece’, a two-part animated special that reimagines the adventures of the Straw Hat crew using LEGO animation. The special, which premiered on September 29, serves as a playful, condensed retelling of the events covered in the first two seasons of the live-action series, spanning from the East Blue to the entry into the Grand Line.
The production consists of two approximately 30-minute episodes titled ‘Tall Tales From the East Blue’ and ‘Grand Line, Grand Time’. Rather than a direct adaptation, the special utilizes a comedic narrative style where the character Usopp recounts the crew's exploits to Tony Tony Chopper. Due to Usopp’s character traits, the narration is described as being subject to creative liberty and exaggeration.
Showrunner Tom Hyndman selected specific key moments to fit the hour-long runtime. The special features voice work from the live-action cast, including Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, and Mackenyu as Zoro. Following its release, the program reached the second position in global popularity rankings on FlixPatrol.
