Netflix releases Mexican political thriller ‘Inside The Circle’

Netflix has released the Mexican thriller series ‘Inside The Circle’ (El círculo), an eight-episode production directed by Alejandro Lozano. Based on the novel ‘Los corruptores’ by Jorge Zepeda Patterson, the series blends political intrigue with the personal drama of four childhood friends: Jaime, a security company owner; Amelia, a government representative; Tomas, a journalist; and Mario, a schoolteacher.

The plot centers on the mysterious death of actress Pamela Dosantos Plascencia. After Tomas uploads a video showing the actress entering the home of the Secretary of National Defense, Salazar, suspicion falls on the official. The narrative explores themes of power, surveillance, and the C5 contract—a proposed public safety infrastructure project—while revealing that the actress was secretly a spy for a northern cartel.
