Netflix releases Spanish comedy series ‘O Aristocrata Decadente’

Netflix has premiered the Spanish comedy-drama series ‘O Aristocrata Decadente’, a six-episode production starring Antonio de la Torre and Alexandra Jiménez. The series explores themes of social critique, romance, and the tension between wealth and poverty through the lens of false identities.

The plot follows Don Leandro, a marquess struggling with significant debt while attempting to maintain his family's prestige and his Madrid palace. His financial situation intersects with Sofía Carrington, a woman posing as a wealthy entrepreneur who shows interest in his property. As the two navigate a relationship built on hidden interests and lies, the series examines the weight of social appearances and ambition.

Creators Juan Cavestany and Álvaro Fernández-Armero stated that the series is not based on a specific historical figure. Instead, the concept was inspired by real-life observations of decaying aristocratic residences in Madrid, where owners lived in diminished circumstances despite the grandeur of their properties.
