Netflix releases Spanish drama series “The Map of Longing”

Netflix launched the six‑episode Spanish romantic drama series “The Map of Longing” (original title *La Carte des désirs*) on 16 July 2026. The show adapts Alice Kellen’s adult romance novel. It follows Greta Alvarez, who was born as a stem‑cell donor for her older sister Lucy, a leukemia patient. After Lucy’s death, Greta struggles with grief until she meets a stranger, Will Tucker, at a burger shop. Will carries a box containing a series of challenges – “The Map of Longing” – that Lucy devised before her death. Together they must complete the tasks, confronting their fears and gradually reshaping their relationship.

The series stars Alicia Falcó as Greta and Pablo Álvarez as Will, with Georgina Amorós appearing as Lucy in flashbacks. Critics note the blend of mourning, romance and an advent‑style game, describing it as a nuanced take on a summer feel‑good premise.

The production adds to the growing number of Alice Kellen adaptations on European streaming platforms, following earlier successes on Prime Video.
