Netflix releases trailer for ‘A Heroína da Fita’ anime film

Netflix unveiled the final trailer for ‘A Heroína da Fita’, an animated film adapting Osamu Tezuka’s classic manga ‘A Princess and the Knight’. The movie, directed by Yuki Igarashi and animated by Outline in partnership with Twin Engine, is set for a global release on August 8 on Netflix.

The studio describes the film as a visually striking retelling of the heroine Safira’s journey in a devastated world, featuring a new voice cast that includes Japanese actors such as Yoshimasa Hosoya and Yusuke Tezuka. Netflix highlighted the growing importance of anime, noting that its original anime productions garnered roughly 1.5 billion views last year and that over half of global subscribers watch anime content.

The announcement underscores Netflix’s aggressive strategy to expand its library of Japanese animation, positioning the title as one of its flagship non‑English offerings.
