Netflix releases trailer for FTX fraud miniseries ‘The Altruists’

Netflix has released the first trailer for ‘The Altruists’, an eight-episode miniseries chronicling the rise and fall of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX. The production explores the billion-dollar fraud scandal that led to the company's collapse in 2022.

The series focuses on the personal and professional relationship between Sam Bankman-Fried, played by Anthony Boyle, and Caroline Ellison, played by Julia Garner. Ellison, the former CEO of Alameda Research, was Bankman-Fried’s partner. The narrative depicts their journey from idealistic entrepreneurs aiming to transform the financial system to figures central to one of the largest financial scandals in recent history, involving an approximately $8 billion deficit.

Inspired by investigative reporting from New York Magazine, the series aims to examine both the financial crimes and the human ambitions behind them. The production is created by Graham Moore and Jacqueline Hoyt.
