Michael Schumacher documentary on 1994 F1 season arrives on Netflix

Netflix has released a trailer for its upcoming documentary, ‘Schumacher ’94 – The Birth of a Legend’, scheduled for a global premiere on October 2. Produced by Leonine Documentaries and directed by Christin Freitag, the film focuses on the 1994 Formula 1 season, which saw a 25-year-old Michael Schumacher secure his first world championship with the Benetton team.

The documentary explores a turbulent year characterized by Schumacher’s rise to dominance, alongside significant controversies and tragedies, including the fatal accidents of Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger. It also addresses allegations of technical manipulation involving the Benetton team and Schumacher’s disciplinary issues, such as his disqualification from the British Grand Prix.

Featuring personal insights from his wife, Corinna Schumacher, the film includes interviews with key figures from that era, including Flavio Briatore, Bernie Ecclestone, David Coulthard, and Willi Weber.
