Netflix releases trailer for Pablo Larraín horror series ‘My Sad Dead’

Netflix has released the official trailer for ‘My Sad Dead’, a four-part psychological horror miniseries directed by Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín. Based on the stories of acclaimed Argentine author Mariana Enriquez, the series follows Ema, a retired doctor with the ability to see and communicate with the dead.

As Ema processes the death of her mother, the arrival of her niece and the murder of three teenagers in the neighborhood of Piedrabuena trigger a phenomenon that disrupts the boundary between the living and the deceased. Larraín noted that the series explores themes of poverty, violence, and social abandonment, stating that ‘the terror lies in the everyday.’

The production, led by Larraín’s company Fabula, will premiere in competition at the 74th San Sebastian International Film Festival before its global release on Netflix on September 24.
