Netflix releases trailer for ‘The New Stanford Prison Experiment’ series

Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming unscripted series, ‘The New Stanford Prison Experiment’. The show features 30 volunteers who are randomly assigned roles as either guards or prisoners within a real prison facility.

The series aims to explore whether individuals will conform to assigned power dynamics or maintain their personal morality and empathy. The trailer depicts rising tensions, emotional breakdowns, and power struggles as participants adjust to their roles. This production serves as a modern reimagining of the controversial 1971 study conducted by psychologist Philip Zimbardo at Stanford University, which was famously terminated early due to abusive behavior and ethical concerns.

The first season is scheduled to premiere on October 21, 2026, and will consist of six 45-minute episodes.
