Netflix releases visuals for ‘Kokumin Quiz’ starring Takayuki Yamada

Netflix has released new promotional images for its upcoming eight-episode live-action series, ‘Kokumin Quiz’, starring Takayuki Yamada. The series is an adaptation of the cult manga by Reiichi Sugimoto and Shinkichi Kato, which depicts a dystopian society where the nation is governed by the outcomes of a live quiz show.

Yamada portrays K-i K-ichi, a charismatic entertainer and host of the program. The newly released visuals showcase the character’s diverse appearances, including a warrior in armor, a monk in colorful robes, a dancer in gold, and a man in a white tuxedo alongside Prime Minister Gokumazawa, played by Renji Ishibashi.

Director Teruyuki Yoshida praised Yamada’s performance, noting the difficulty of playing a host who must maintain professional composure while delivering lines without emotional attachment. The series is scheduled for exclusive worldwide release on Netflix on December 17.
