Netflix releases Wonka-inspired reality competition series

Netflix has released “Wonka's The Golden Ticket,” a reality competition series inspired by the world of Willy Wonka. The show features 24 contestants who participate in various challenges within a highly detailed set designed to mimic the iconic chocolate factory, complete with elements like a chocolate river and a giant gumball machine.

Contestants must succeed in challenges to continue their factory tour. Those who successfully complete the tour can win a prize of three million dollars, distributed over thirty years. The production features diverse casting for the Oompa Loompas, including performer Rusty Goffe, who noted this as his final acting role before retirement.

While the set design has been praised for its immersion, the series has drawn attention for its use of artificial intelligence to recreate the voice of the late Gene Wilder. Although permission was obtained from the Wilder estate, the use of AI to have the character host the reality program remains a notable aspect of the production.
