Netflix renews exclusive deal with Shonda Rhimes and Shondaland

Netflix has renewed its multi-year overall deal with Shonda Rhimes and her production company, Shondaland. The agreement, which includes producing partner Betsy Beers, ensures that Shondaland will exclusively produce series, films, and games for the streaming platform.

The partnership aims to expand beyond traditional content by exploring merchandising and live events tied to Shondaland’s intellectual property. This follows the massive global success of the ‘Bridgerton’ franchise, which has driven hundreds of millions of views. Season 5 of ‘Bridgerton’ is currently in production in London.

In addition to content production, Netflix will continue to support Shondaland’s inclusion initiatives, such as the Ladder Program, designed to train underrepresented creatives in the industry.
