Netflix closes Night School Studio and Moonloot Games

Netflix is restructuring its gaming division, confirming the closure of two internal development studios: Night School Studio and Moonloot Games. This move follows a series of previous studio shutdowns within the company, including Boss Fight Entertainment and Team Blue.

Night School Studio, the Los Angeles-based developer behind the Oxenfree series and the recently released interactive horror game Unhinged, was acquired by Netflix in 2021. Moonloot Games, founded by Netflix in Helsinki in 2022, had not yet released a title before its closure.

The company is shifting its gaming strategy away from broad internal development toward a more focused model. Future efforts will prioritize cloud gaming, children’s titles, party games, and mainstream licensed content. While these closures involve significant staff reductions, Netflix noted that its Finnish-based Next Games will continue operations.
