Netflix releases trailer for Greta Gerwig’s Narnia prequel
Netflix has released the official trailer for ‘Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew’, a fantasy film written and directed by Greta Gerwig. Based on the 1955 novel by C. S. Lewis, the film serves as a prequel to the established Narnia chronology, exploring the origins of the magical world and its characters.
The story follows Digory Kirke (David McKenna) and Polly Plummer (Beatrice Campbell) as they discover magical rings that transport them between different dimensions, including the Wood Between the Worlds. The production features an ensemble cast including Daniel Craig as Uncle Andrew, Emma Mackey as Jadis, and Meryl Streep providing the voice for Aslan the Lion.
A notable feature of the trailer is the use of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’. Director Gerwig personally secured permission from Robert Plant and Jimmy Page to include the track, noting that the music reflects the spiritual journey of the story.
Netflix is planning a significant release strategy, beginning with IMAX sneak previews on February 10, 2027, followed by a global theatrical release on February 12, 2027. The film is scheduled to arrive on the Netflix streaming platform on April 2, 2027.
