Netflix releases trailer for East of Eden starring Florence Pugh
Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming seven-episode limited series, “East of Eden,” an adaptation of John Steinbeck’s 1952 classic novel. The series is set to premiere on October 1, 2026.
Starring Florence Pugh as the complex antiheroine Cathy Ames, the production explores a multigenerational saga of the Trask and Hamilton families in California’s Salinas Valley. The narrative, inspired by the biblical story of Cain and Abel, spans from the late 19th century through the end of World War I. Pugh’s character is depicted as a manipulative figure whose presence disrupts the lives of Adam Trask (Christopher Abbott) and Charles Trask (Mike Faist).
The series is written and co-showrun by Zoe Kazan, the granddaughter of Elia Kazan, who directed the famous 1955 film adaptation. The cast also includes Ciarán Hinds, Mike Faist, Christopher Abbott, Martha Plimpton, and Hoon Lee. The production features direction by Garth Davis for the first four episodes and Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre for the final three.
