Netflix secures 2030 World Cup rights for Spain and Andorra

Netflix has acquired the broadcasting rights for the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Andorra. While the platform will be the exclusive provider for all 104 matches, it plans to offer certain content for free to viewers.

Under the current proposal, all matches involving the Spanish national team, as well as both semifinals and the final, will be available via a free-to-air channel. Additionally, Netflix intends to offer one match for free every match day. The specific channel for these free broadcasts has not yet been determined as negotiations are ongoing.

To access the full tournament, a paid subscription will be required. Netflix is also expected to provide supplementary content, including pre-game programming, halftime analysis, post-match discussions, and daily highlights. This move represents a significant strategic shift for the streaming service as it seeks to increase user engagement through live sports.
