Netflix sees rise in non-English content and sci-fi viewership

Netflix is seeing a significant shift in its global viewership patterns. Non-English language content now accounts for more than one-third of the platform's total global viewing time, signaling a move away from the dominance of Hollywood-centric productions.

In terms of specific recent successes, the new sci-fi thrillerThe Last House’, starring Greta Lee and Wagner Moura, has reached the top of Netflix's global viewership charts. Within three days of its August 7 premiere, the film garnered 51.4 million watched hours, equivalent to approximately 27.5 million views. Despite high viewership, the film has received weak critical reception, holding a 25 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The popularity of international content is further evidenced by hits such as the South Korean series ‘Teach You a Less’, which achieved 48 million views.
