Netflix sees subscription surge following GTA 6 video release

The release of GTA 6: An Extended Look on August 27 triggered a significant surge in Netflix subscriptions in the United States. According to data from Ampere Analysis, Netflix gained more than 100,000 new subscribers around the time of the premiere, marking its largest single-day subscription growth of 2026.

Many users opted to subscribe to Netflix to access the video six hours earlier than its scheduled release on YouTube and the official GTA 6 website. The content also successfully re-engaged lapsed customers, with more than five percent of US users who had not used the service in the previous 30 days returning specifically to watch the footage.
